The Australian Girls Choir has delighted audiences across Australia and around the world with their beautiful singing, stunning choreographed items and spectacular stage presentation. Performing at major national and international events, on television and in recording studios, the Australian Girls Choir has earned itself the reputation as the finest girls’ choir in the country. Established in 1984 by Judith Curphey, the Australian Girls Choir began with 150 girls rehearsing in Melbourne, Australia. Today, the choir boasts an enrolment of over 3,500 choristers training in singing, dance and drama across Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney. The choir has toured nationally on eleven occasions to destinations all over Australia, and has also toured internationally eleven times to all corners of the globe including Canada, USA, England, Wales, France, Austria, Czech Republic, Italy, Germany, Japan, Thailand, Vietnam, Samoa, Tonga and New Zealand. The Australian Girls Choir is proud to have been chosen to represent the ‘Spirit of Australia’ in the Qantas Airlines television advertising campaigns since 1998. Many hundreds of choristers have been involved in these spectacular advertisements, travelling to some of the world’s most beautiful locations for filming. The choir sings a wonderfully diverse mix of music including well-known Australiana and Aboriginal songs, Broadway show tunes, international music and upbeat gospel numbers. The unique mix of repertoire with choreographed movement makes for an unforgettable performance. Bringing music to audiences across Australia…
“The stellar performance of the Australian Girls Choir was the absolute highlight of the day! Best Wishes Gustav Nossal, Australian of the Year, Announced 2000 …and all around the world.
